Anchorage, ALASKA USA, March 1, 2017 – Alaska Glacier Products, LLC announced its premium brand of bottled glacial water, Clear Alaskan Glacial® was awarded a Bronze Medallion at this year’s Gourmet Waters International Competition. The event, sponsored by Agency for the Valorization of Agricultural Production (AVPA), was held in Lyon, France in February 2017.
The International Competition judged more than 50 waters from over 20 competing countries. The waters were classified into 6 categories, 4 still and 2 sparkling, and judged by a panel of experts, gastronomes, taste specialists, and representative of the "Academie Culinaire de France." Entrants were judged for overall quality, as well as character, taste and elegance. Clear Alaskan Glacial® received the Bronze Medal in the light still water category and earned the distinction of being the only USA water in the competition to receive a medal. At the show’s finale, Clear Alaskan Glacial® received the "Most Talked About" award and was described by the jury as, "envied by some, but adored by others."
Clear Alaskan Glacial® water is a distinctive and premium glacial water that appeals to consumers who are health and environment conscious. The water is sourced from the pristine Eklutna Glacier in Chugach State Park, just outside Anchorage, Alaska. Eklutna Lake was created with snowfalls that began more than 25,000 years ago, and continues to be replenished by a glacial ice sheet that covers over 30-square-miles. The Lake is unique in the world as an above-ground source of virgin water that has not been "recycled" underground. The glacial water requires minimal processing, which includes filtration and disinfection to ensure that the natural minerality of the water is rich in ions and electrolytes at a seasonal pH of 7.8.
Gregory Galik, Founder of the Clear Alaskan Glacial® brand, was pleased and proud at the news. "Clear Alaskan Glacial water is America’s premium water. It offers natural pH, great taste, and an iconic package and label that say "Ahh-laska." Galik emphasized that consumers have many choices in bottled water, and he hopes this award helps persuade them to buy premium water that is responsibly sourced for natural quality and consistency – and from the U.S.A. Some bottled waters are marketed by massive global operations, so it’s harder for consumers to determine where the water they buy actually comes from.
